Electronic and on-site communication and information provision ensures parents and students are ready to commence formal education on arrival. Whilst the majority of students spend their full primary life at Surrey Hills Primary School, transition due to parent employment occurs at all levels and the individualised approach support smooth entry for these students and their families.

The concept of pathways and transition at primary level is not just limited to beginning and finishing primary school. For some students this is more challenging socially and for others academic expectations can be the need.

Within the new Learning Zones and individualised approach, transition challenges between levels are minimised. Students work in the same zone for two years and a workforce approach of transitioning some staff each year with the students ensures strong student connectedness, supporting engagement and wellbeing within the learning environment.
